Is a new SsangYong ute coming? SsangYong shows off three new cars at Seoul Mobility Show, including Torres ute and electric SUV

The 0100 is an electric ute but it carries design cues from the Torres SUV.

The brand formerly known as SsangYong, KG Mobility, has unveiled three concepts at the Seoul Mobility Show this week, with each looking like there’s a production version on the way.

While the SsangYong name still stands here in Australia, we’ll refer to them as such, so the first of the three concepts is a dual-cab ute based on the confirmed-for-Australia SsangYong Torres.

The electric ute, called ‘O100’ in concept form, is decked out with concept-style wheels and a heavy-duty roof rack, but it’s not a stretch to imagine it being actually built based on the current Torres’ design.

The brand says it’s also 'Vehicle-To-Load' capable - meaning you can charge electric household or leisure items using the car's charger - to offer more options for an outdoor lifestyle.

The KR10 concept, a mid-size SUV based around the Korando, is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Korando badge, which was first used on SsangYong’s versions of the Willy’s Jeep in 1983 when the brand was called Dong-A Motor.

The F100, a fully-electric SUV with off-road intention and a classic silhouette, is the third concept from the brand at the show, which shows off a lighting array on the front that “can be constructed according to personality and mood”, the brand says.

Also at the show, though already revealed, was the Torres EVX SUV, the EV version of the Torres which will come to Australia in petrol guise at least.

The brand's local arm spokesperson, John Taylor, confirmed to CarsGuide that the petrol version of the Torres is on track for a launch at the end of 2023.

"We've had a lot of enquiry around that model, there's a lot of excitement around it at both a dealer level from customers and from the media," he said.

Specifications for the Torres EVX are still slim, but a driving range of more than 420km and an interior as futuristic as its exterior are both a sure thing.
