Neuron e-scooters now with live-tracking for enhanced safety
New ride tracking technology for Neuron rental e-scooters should help put your mind at ease, as you can share your location in real time with loved ones.
The newly introduced tracking technology called 'Follow My Ride' allows users to keep others up to date with their progress - be it on a trip home from work, or a night out with friends. It allows the user to choose a contact on their phone to share a URL with, and that contact can monitor the user's ride live. Location data is not used after the ride, and location sharing ends when the ride is completed.
Follow My Ride came about as a result of a focus group with females, where there was a call for improved security during rides on Neuron e-scooters.
"The new Follow My Ride service has been created in response to feedback and insights directly from our riders. They asked for the option to share their location with friends and family and so we introduced it," said Zachary Wang, CEO at Neuron Mobility.
"We're always looking at new ways to improve safety. It's a great feature for all riders but we hope it will be particularly popular with females who can feel more secure by having a trusted person monitor their trip."
Follow My Ride further enhances the safety offering from Neuron, which implemented a 111 Emergency Button feature earlier in 2020. That sends a notification to the rider asking "Are you alright?" if a fall is detected. Riders can either reply with "I'm alright" or "I need emergency assistance", and if the latter a call to emergency services will be placed.
Neuron's rental e-scooters are currently present in a number of Australian cities, including Adelaide, Darwin and Brisbane, not to mention international destinations Auckland and Singapore.
