SCOOP! Y63 2024 Nissan Patrol spotted in Dubai as rival to Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series approaches reveal

We’ve seen the Patrol getting around the Middle East for testing already, but these shots from a reader are much clearer.

Thanks to a CarsGuide reader, we’ve gotten one of the clearest looks yet at the 2024 Nissan Patrol SUV testing in Dubai.

A set of images show what appears to be the disguised test mule, mocked up to look like a Y62 generation Patrol, which has previously been spotted being tested for mechanical and engineering purposes.

The new images follow reports earlier this week that the new Patrol is coming sooner than expected.

US publication Car Buzz reported that an Infiniti QX80 Monograph concept car will be shown in the US in June which means - given Infiniti is Nissan’s ‘premium’ brand - the Patrol which will share the same platform will likely follow soon after.

As for what to expect from the next Patrol, a V8 probably isn’t on the list.

The current 298kW/560Nm 5.6-litre V8 is looking to be replaced by a smaller twin-turbo V6, with reports saying a nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system is likely.

Electrification is also on the cards, as Nissan Vice President of Powertrain and EV Engineering, Shunichi Inamijima has been vocal about the applications possible for the brand’s e-Power system.

"It's not appropriate to talk about the future product plan, but for a 4WD application, we have already applied e-Power technology to X-Trail, so you can confirm its performance," Inamijima said.

"But I can say that the technology itself is applicable to larger SUVs or commercial applications, and technical development is going on."
