Undisguised! 2023 MG Cyberster electric car spied with no camouflage

We’ve seen teasers and testing shots of the Cyberster, but this is the first proper look we’ve had.

The MG Cyberster has been spotted again, this time completely undisguised, pointing to a nearing debut for the brand’s electric sports car.

While details are scarce regarding what we can expect from the Cyberster - as it’s known at the moment - more sightings of the car are giving us a much better clue as to exactly how the car will look.

A spy photo published on abcmoteur.fr shows the Cyberster in what appears to be the parking lot of an MG facility, in a drivable state with the roof down and the tail-lights illuminated.

The photo only shows the car from the rear, but based on this and a patent rendering made public in late 2022, CarsGuide has created a render (below) based on available information.

In the first half of this year, MG will officially reveal the spiritual successor to its hallowed roadster series, made most popular by the MG B, and it might even be renamed for production with a moniker to fit the series.

Autocar reports the brand trademarked the name ‘MG C EV’ earlier in 2022 but that badge has already been used by a six-cylinder sibling to the MG B.

The MG brand used the MG F badge on an early 2000s roadster, which conveniently stands for ‘electric’. The brand has reportedly also been internally using the ‘Project E’ name for the Cyberster.

While the Cyberster has been touted by speculators as a Mazda MX-5 rival, MG’s UK commercial director Guy Pigounakis told Autocar in an interview that the new roadster would sit above the market segment level of previous models like the MG F.

“Right up to when the model was arriving we were looking at it as a natural successor to the MG F. It’s completely not. It’s in a completely different sector of the market,” he told the outlet.
