Warmed up with 8/8 single leg deadlifts using 45-95-125 pounds.

I used 145# for the first set on each leg and then 165#, which was about a max for that many reps.

Did them in the driveway instead of the garage so I could go 10 meters straight. Instead of 10 full minutes I stopped at 12 rounds (6 each side), which was 9:10 on the clock.

Ring Rowing Murph

It was scheduled for 11am, which always turns out well when the high temp for the day is in the mid 90s!

My shoulder still doesn’t feel great on the bar, so I wasn’t attempting 100 pull-ups. I also figured I’d try something new to get through the air squats quicker, which is always what takes me so long.

Surprisingly I got in from the first mile in about 8:35. Then I was on a pretty steady pace of just under for at least 5 or 6 rounds. Then I started resting more in the transitions and seconds ticked away. Ring rows were fine and I was able to get in some kip. After standing up I rested too much before getting going on the air squats though and with double the sets that added up. When I got going with the squats and committed I was able to bust through the sets of 8 and 7 at a much better pace. I downed some water and grabbed my shades before heading out for the second mile. I remember reading about 34:10 on the clock, which had to be after my short break. Felt like I was going so fucking slow on the second mile, but picked it up for the last 400 meters and finished in 43:10. Still not sure how I did that run in 9 minutes.

Definitely wasn’t setting any records today. The ring rows are slower reps plus the extra time of getting down and up from the ground. Pretty far off my best time of 37:11 in 2015, which I may never touch again.

Rested and was pretty damn lazy yesterday. After the deadlift volume on Friday and the plan for today with Murph tomorrow I didn’t want to overdo it. In to the gym early today at 10am.

Wanted to try it out with the loading used by women at Regionals and as I’m typing this I realize the deadlift should have been 220 pounds. Whoops! We still got a good workout. I did the first set of squat cleans unbroken and quickly decided not to do that again until the late sets. It sent my heart rate way up and then my round of 9s took almost twice as long as the 10s. I did the deadlift and bench unbroken the whole way and went back to unbroken cleans for the 3-2-1. Finished in 14:55.

Holding the KB on the front rack for so long sucked! this took about 12 minutes.

Memorial Weekend

Walked 18 holes yesterday. My hamstrings and hips are a little tight, probably from all of the lunges. Out in the garage in the early afternoon.

All RDLs were done with a neutral grip. For the Sumos I wanted to do 10×6 and was able to. Alternated my mix grip each set. Finished in 4:44. Wasn’t sure how my back would do coming back to these after the trip and slacking most of the week after.

That hold was no cake walk in round one. I focused on controlling my breathing to get me through. Finished in 7:24.

Don’t need anything more than those pieces for the day since I turned strength into some conditioning. Looking forward to the three-day weekend.

I did 2 rounds of 12, then 8 rounds of 10, 12, and 14 for a total of 130 lunges. Fucking terrible, especially in the front rack.

Walked 400m to cool down.

Keep Planking

On Sunday night I played pickleball for about 2 hours. It was a lot of fun! Walked 18 holes yesterday. Out in the garage in the afternoon today.
